OUGD405 Studio Brief 2 | Facts & Statistics | #1

These are the fact and statistics that I collected for Studio Brief 2. I though that going down the route of data and numbers about DVDs would be incredibly boring si I though I would look more into my own collection.

 It turned out that facts and statistics on my personal collection wasn't so interesting either.






20 Facts

1) The most I have spent on a DVD/Blu Ray is £30.00

2) My favorite one I own is probably my Psycho Steelbook.

3) The oldest film I own on DVD is Psycho. Which came out in 1960.

4) I have rebought 4 films due to re-release/new packaging.

5) I haven’t got my favourite film on DVD/Blu Ray.

6) 3 DVDs are to do with Liverpool football club.

7) I got my first few DVDs as gifts and it carried on from there.

8) The Breaking Bad, LOST and Scrubs boxsets were all gifts.

9) I’ve preordered a ‘The Departed’ Steelbook

10) I haven’t watched all of my DVDs

11) I haven’t opened all of my DVDs

12) The latest films I own are from 2012.

13) When I think about DVD collection I kind of think it’s pointless in the long run, but I can’t put my finger on why I like to have them.

14) The franchise with the most DVDs is Die Hard, as I have the ‘trilogy’ then 4.0.

15) Will Ferrell is the most reoccurring actor as I have his boxset that contains six of his films, on top of them I own Land of the Lost

16) Reservoir Dogs and LOST are my most watched DVDs

17) There are only 2500 of ‘The Departed’ Steelbooks available to buy

18) I’ll only buy TV boxsets if the show has completely finished, such as Breaking Bad, Scrubs and LOST.

19) 80% of American adults own DVD or Blu-ray players, down from 83% in 2005

20) The average American watches 1.3 hours of DVDs or Blu-rays per week







20 Statistics

1) The three box sets I own have a shared run time of 12,122 minutes.

2) 12,122 minutes is the equivalent of 8.2 days.

3) The individual DVDs have a combined run time of 4,859 minutes, which is 3.3 days.

4) All these together equates to 16,981 minutes.

5) If I were to watch all of them in one sitting it would take 11.7 days.

6) 9 out of 45 DVDs claim to be ‘collector’s’ or ‘special’ edition. This is every 1 in 5.

7) Ridley Scott is the most reoccurring director with 4 DVDs.

13) 3 out of 10 people said that the artwork of the DVD influences their purchase in some way

14) Half of the people I asked said that £10 would be the most they would spend on a DVD.
