OUGD505 Studio Brief 1 | Bank Notes Around the World

I began my research by looking into existing bank notes from around the world in order to establish a better understanding of what the 'average' or 'usual' design of a banknote is considered to be. I did this by using the site http://banknoteworld.com/, which allows you to choose any country and see almost all banknote designs from the past to the present.

From my research, it is clear that a portrait on the note is very common. I think I will use this in my design as when it comes to legal and everyday items such as legal tender, it is important that the people using it are familiar with it. If I were to not have a portrait on the design I feel that people would not be very accepting of the new design.
