The type in my poster is secondary compared to image in terms of scale and impact, but primary in communicating the reason for the poster.
I first chose to have the type aligned with the top image rather than all the way to the left and aligned with the bottom image. I thought that this slight indent would draw more attention to the type rather than everything being in line and creating a rectangle. This was later changed after a discussion with Danny.
This is essentially the title text for the poster. I chose to use Helvetica for the type as it is extremely legible, very crisp and clean and is also very flexible to work with.
I thought it was important to have a sans-serif typeface that is very minimal, like Helvetica, to contrast the business of the images used. If I were to use a typeface that was slightly messy or even one with large serifs, the whole poster would look messy and unorganised.
Here I played with the type's weight in order to add a bit of extra depth to the text. The weight difference in the words means that at a glance one would read it as 'Fight Piracy', which still works. But once they are closer or taking it in more, it then becomes clear that it is music piracy that is being fought.
The same kind of decision was made with the type on the right hand side. I thought it was important that the numbers and the album name were in bold as they are the important element of the message. If all the text was the same weight a lot of the meaning and impact would be lost.
