OUGD503 Studio Brief 2 | Idea & Concept

Once we knew that we were going to be working on the Design Bridge brief, we then had to come up with what products our brand would sell.

Alex and Aaron started a couple of mind-maps in order to generate some ideas and possible outcomes.

Some useful notes were:

• Minimal sesign
• No blue or pink
• Neutral colours

Alex and Aaron also came up with the idea of going down the hair-care range with shampoo and conditioner, which I thought was a great idea. The only problem I saw with it is that it could be a little bit limiting, which is why I suggested maybe also doing hair oil, as this gives us the opportunity to design a bottle of a different shape and size. Alex and Aaron both thought this was a good idea so we had shampoo, conditioner and oil as our three products.

All three of us knew from the start we wanted to design something very modern and minimal as this would work well with the unisex aim of the products. After some discussion, we decided to take our inspiration from medicine bottles and prescription labels as these are universally unisex because they are not designed to cater to one sex over the other (other than branded products).
